  Another question
Posted by: rayharryhausen - 07-31-2015, 07:25 PM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - Replies (4)

Before I start cutting and gluing...

Is a chaos lord (csm) allowed to take a meltagun?

Also going to use my Khorgorath as a hellbrute - one of the arms will be a close combat weapon but what ranged options are there for Hellbrutes? I will convert the other arm to have something but what? I have multimeltas, heavy bolters, lascannons, heavy plasma guns, etc.

Have started painting my Age of Sigmar Khorne guys and want to use them as CSM Khorne berserkers...

Does it matter that they are on 32mm bases? Slightly larger than 40k bases iirc. I asked a similar question of my bikes but just checking.

This is probably a bit pointless due to the love GW gets at the minute but I thought I would ask here anyway

I have finally cleared up my painting area at home and once I finish my necromunda gang I am going to start painting up my 30k Alpha legion, my question is does anyone else have any interest in 30k and fancy starting an escalation type campaign to collect, paint and then play some of the campaigns? Realistically probably looking to kick off with 500 point game at end of September and build from that

  Tau codex
Posted by: Morglum - 07-23-2015, 10:11 AM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - No Replies

I was just on the Australian games workshop and the tau codex is no longer available as a hardcopy. Possibly the start of the purge before the new codex? (rumourshave tau in September)

Some cool stuff in here rules for the chaos knight (same as normal except you can add a mark of chaos)

The new tau battle suit is the the highlight for me there's so many guns it looks like an Orc made it!

  Does it matter?

Sorry for thread spamming but I'm hoping for a quick reply before I make an online order tonight..

Does it matter that my bikes are on 25by50 bases? (The old ones that warhammer cavalry use too)

Thumbs Up List advice please
Posted by: rayharryhausen - 06-02-2015, 04:30 PM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - Replies (17)

Last time I played 40K was in 1998! Getting some space marines together. Does this sort of list make sense?

Uses white scars chapter tactics. Exact load out of characters and speeders to be confirmed.

Captain on bike
Command squad on bikes including apothecary and company standard
8 bikes including 2 meltaguns plus assault bike with multimelta
8 bikes including 2 plasma guns plus assault bike with multimelta
2 assault bikes with multimeltas
3 land speeders with heavy bolters and a combo of typhoons and assault cannons
3 land speeders with heavy bolters and a combo of typhoons and assault cannons
5 scouts with sniper rifles
5 assault marines

The general goal is for the two big bike units to smash into the best place of the enemy line. Their melta weapons should deal with vehicles whilst the land speeders are more set up to deal with infantry. The scouts just be annoying and the little squad of assault marines are just to plug a gap or seize a last minute objective.

I was also thinking for larger games of adding a land raider containing a tactical squad and techmarine. The tactical squad could be dumped on an objective and the land raider/techmarine combo should distract a lot of fire.

Feedback please

Is the following Captain build reasonable?

Basic kit plus bike, relic blade, artificier armour, auspex, digital weapons

  imperial knight court
Posted by: Morglum - 05-04-2015, 11:31 AM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - Replies (1)

So poking around at the new imperial knight releases wondering if i had enough kidneys to sell to afford them when i noticed something which made me cringe.

So GW is selling a 5 knight bundle for 475 quid if you buy this you get a special datasheet with rules for running all 5 knights in a terran royal flush (or whatever its called). Sounds cool 5 knight boxes 95 quid each costs 475 squid so free rules.....

Not quite the formation includes a knight errant and a knight paladin, these two can be made from the 95 quid kit yes but they can also be made from the 85 quid kit. So any sensible person buying the court would be spending 455 quid, so the free rules actually cost 20 quid........

Pretty much the more expensive eqiivalent of giving you a rhino formation and making you buy razorbacks to get it.

  Can deployment count as movement?
Posted by: drunkbobnopants - 05-01-2015, 11:35 AM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - Replies (2)

The Shining Spears in the new Eldar codex have a special rule (Aerobatic Grace IIRC) that gives them an always on 4+ cover save (not a Jink) but only if they didn't remain stationary in the Movement phase.

My question (for you guys to give an opinion on) is whether this cover save is applicable on Turn 1 if Eldar player doesn't have initiative?

The unit hasn't had an opportunity to move yet, is the save still active?
