some GK thoughts for units |

So with GK's seeing more and more players (Hopefully to stop and lessen come the next codex) I've put together some thoughts about the codex and predictions.
Firstly HQ's... Many know Coteaz is a gem, and while Crowe is a tax to allow purifiers as troops they are not alone in being useful additions to armies. Inqusitors in power armour with the 2 nades, 3 servo skulls and psyker mastery – hammer hand make for great additions to strike squads to turn them into semi fighting units able to bat well above their weight class.
On the other hand dual inq's with power armour, some skulls and psyker mastery communion makes for a awesome reserve denial force. the + / - 2 for rolls makes it very easy to get forces when you want.
I've even taken a liking to TDA inq's with psycannosn in squads of 5 warrior acolytes makes for good walking firepower for cheap.
As for general unit load outs, I’m learning to be very fond of the purifier sub squad. 7 DCA, 3 Melta acolytes in a rhino... they pop transports decently enough, add some nice AP1 to the army, and can assault the enemy troops which fall out.
Added to that some 5 man strike squads in psybacks (With dozerblades which IMO are essential in armies which only pay 5 points for them, it’s a 1 in 6 chance of immobilising vehicle into a 1 in 36 if my quick maths guess is right).
purifiers still rock for bigger forward units, or cheap throwaway anti horde / shooting units (Judi with or without hammer, 2 psycannons and 2 sword guys makes a cheap under 200 point anti horde which can also drive forward and fire good anti tank shouts from the psycannons). Though I still also like seeing them in squads of 10 with some bling, though it may not be as max min'd as the 5 man squad.
Dreads while still a golden nugget are too high a kill target now in my opinion. and with the ruling of the ETC that they can't shoot over rhinos it does make their use in future ETC type tourneys less likely for me, as the one good thing about them was the hide and shoot behind your tanks. I’m convinced the call was made by a butt hurt guy who hated them popping his transports...
I'm liking the purgation squads as their replacements, either in the more higher target priority 4 psycannon in psyback jump out behind it and fire using psychic aim to not need los then in future turns fire heavy mode. Or use them like extra strike squads with judi with hammer, 3 sword guys and a single psycannon. It is low target order but gives you more psycannon squads with wounds and a psyback transport.
perfect for maxing out a MSU army, as I think I can get 3 squads with hammers and single psycannon, 5 strike squads with same load out (Judi with hammer, 1 psycannon and 3 sword guys all in psyback with dozer blade) and 2 squads of three melta wars in psybacks.
that’s 8 separate psycannon squads all same load out, 8 hammers, 10 psybacks, 2 inq's with both nades, pwr armour and skulls to add some fight to 2 strike squads, and some much needed meltas.
I believe this sort of list works and proves dreads aren't a requirement auto include like many GK players are currently doing. Heck if you want a
even more brutal midfield army try the following
3 purg squads, 4 psycannons,
5 strike squads, 1 psycannon,
all in psybacks and some inq's with goodies.
That’s a lot of psycannons in the middle of the table and once they all sit for a turn you're firing out 68 psycannon shots alone (As well as the nice 24 S6 heavy bolter, and 46 storm bolter shots.
Other units I’m getting interested in are vindicare assassins (Still, I’m convinced putting them on the table vs poor shooting armies or outflanking vs others will worry opponents) Psykers for a good low ap blast.

How many points should I be aiming for points wise? I want to sit down and plan my army out and so I was thinking about 1k to start with. The set I have is around 500pts so I'm considering going for another set if I can find someone to split the cost and take the marines.
This would give me a nice base for adding some of the more interesting support and specialty units. Worth doing or should I start on the special/support units first?
Are there any online army planners out there?
