  Your country needs you!

TNI WFB will be attending the Home Nations Tournament, in Edinburgh on 25/26 June 2011. Several of the regular players have had to pull out of the event and the team is currently one man short. Rather than fill the spot with a foreign mercenary, we'd prefer to give a local player the chance to showcase their skills.

Are you up to the challenge? If so, TNI would love to hear from hear from you.

As each player must use a different army, we are a bit restricted in who we can take. The team currently has:

Dark Elves
Daemons (or possibly Tomb Kings)

So there's room for:

High Elves
Warriors of Chaos
Wood Elves

These events are always great fun, with the socialising (drinking) being just as important as the toy soldiers. There will be some practice sessions (strangely enough they are called Beerhammer) before the event, where you can get up to speed in both aspects of the hobby.

So, if you're interested in moving up to the big leagues and picking up an international cap, come along to www.teamni.org and tell us.

  40k Terrain
Posted by: row - 04-18-2011, 06:38 PM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - Replies (13)

With the take off of the amount of 40k players in the club it can be difficult to get good LOS blocking terrain. There really is only enough to have on 2 tables.

Is there a possibilty of getting some more?

  ETC Team Northern Ireland
Posted by: J65 - 04-18-2011, 12:54 AM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - No Replies

As some of you may know, Team Northern Ireland(TNI) has attended the European Team Championships(ETC) at the last couple of events, to take on the rest of the world at Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Warhammer 40K. We'll be back again for more this August, this time fighting the good fight in Switzerland. Next summer we'll be off to Poland and the qualification process for those TNI teams is already under way. Up until now, TNI has pretty much been a one-club team, with the Northern Wasters (the Ajax of NI toy soldiers?) providing most of the players. We think it's past time the other NI clubs got involved in helping to put NI on the wargaming map. There seems to be a good number of WFB and 40K players at LGC, and it would be great to see some of them joining TNI, to bravely battle against tiny plastic men in foreign lands.

Here is a copy of the TNI Charter that should explain a little about how it all works:

Quote:Team Northern Ireland Charter

1. What is Team Northern Ireland (TNI)?
Team Northern Ireland is the group of players who represent Northern Ireland at Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Warhammer 40K in the European Team Championships and the Home Nations Event.

2. Who can join TNI?
To represent TNI, a player must meet at least one of the following conditions:
(i) They, or a biological parent or grandparent, must have been born in Northern Ireland.
(ii) They must have resided in Northern Ireland for continuous period of at least 2 years.
(iii) They must have previously represented TNI as a foreign mercenary and have not since represented another country.

3. Who organises TNI?
TNI is organised by a 5 person committee consisting of:
- Chairman
- WFB Captain
- WFB Vice-Captain
- 40K Captain
- 40K Vice Captain

These posts are renewed annually by election each September, all TNI squad members are permitted to stand and/or vote in these elections. Either the captain or vice-captain of each team must be a resident of Northern Ireland. The committee is mainly tasked with selecting the teams, training the players, and getting them to the events. At the events the captains deal with the match pairing process.

4. How are the teams selected?
The 5 committee members get automatic places on the teams, with the chairman choosing which system he wants to play. The remaining places are decided by TNI rankings and wildcards as shown below:

1 – Captain
2 – Vice-Captain
3 – Player who finished highest in the TNI Rankings
4 - Player who finished 2nd highest in the TNI Rankings
5 - Player who finished 3rd highest in the TNI Rankings
6 - Player who finished 4th highest in the TNI Rankings
7 - Player who finished 5th highest in the TNI Rankings
8 – Wildcard Pick or the Chairman

If the Captain finishes in the top 5 of the TNI Rankings then he gets an additional wildcard pick.
If the Vice-Captain finishes in the top 5 of the TNI Rankings then player who finishes 6th gets a place on the team (unless the captain finishes 6th in which case the player who finishes 7th gets the place).

If any player declines their place on the team, then the next highest ranked player who failed to qualify gets the place.
If the team runs out of players before they run out of places, then foreign mercenaries will be used to fill the places.

5. How do the TNI Rankings work?
The rankings are based on players’ tournament performances throughout the qualifying season (1st March to last day of February). Each time a player completes an eligible tournament they receive a ranking score based on the number of players at the event and their finishing position. The players’ top 4 scores are combined to give their ranking scores. Unless the player has a valid reason for not attending any TNI events, one of these scores must come from a TNI organised event. Players with a valid reason for not playing in any TNI events may use a score from another suitable event instead. The committee will determine the validity of absences and which event would make a suitable replacement. If the player fails to attend any TNI events and has no valid reason, then only their top 3 scores will be counted towards their TNI Rankings.

For WFB, a tournament will be eligible if:
- The event is an open one, not an invitational
- The event results are entered into Rankings HQ
- There are at least 10 players and 5 rounds

For 40K, a tournament will be eligible if:
- The event is an open one, not an invitational
- The event results are entered into Rankings HQ
- There are at least 10 players and 3 rounds

TNI organised leagues will also count as eligible tournaments.

The tables below are used to determine the number of ranking points (RP) that are available at a tournament. The winner of the event earns that amount of points. The points drop (PD) is calculated by dividing the winners’ points (WP) by the number of players in the event. The player who finishes 2nd will get RP=WP-PD. The player who finishes 3rd will get RP=WP-(2xPD), 4th will get RP=WP-(3xPD) and so on.

6. How do I sign up?
Visit http://www.teamni.org, sign up to the forums and post an introduction.

Feel free to fire any questions my way and I'll do my best to answer them.

TNI 40K is off to the Home Nations Tournament this weekend, where we'll be taking on Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and The Barbarians (a bunch of misfits from all round the islands). Wish us luck, as with an International competitive record of P17 W0 D2 L15, we're really gonna need it.

right what combination in 40k would require a high number like 5 or 6 to hit and then a 6 in close combat. With armour saves allowed?
