  New Tomb Kings
Posted by: - 04-05-2011, 05:34 PM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - Replies (3)

BoW are showing these
BoW:Khemri

Not sure on most of these myself, was looking forward to this release and am thinking I will be disappointed, again with Khemri

Necropolis knights look ridiculous, completely! Like the stalkers (except for the heads) and tomb guard, but old tomb guard are nicer. The humanoid sphinx I need to see close up, see the detail properly, glad to see that they have made it slightly pose-able in the legs

  League = Clique?
Posted by: J65 - 04-05-2011, 05:01 PM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - Replies (8)

LGC like several other local clubs are currently running wargaming leagues. We're thinking about running WFB and 40K leagues at the Northern Wasters as part of the qualification process for the TNI ETC teams. My concern would be that visiting players might be put off if they turned up and all the locals were playing league games. I know that part of the reason I haven't been to LGC is because of the 40K league, and the fear that I wouldn't be able to find opponents.

Any comments?

  League Games Lists
Posted by: row - 04-04-2011, 10:16 AM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - Replies (26)

Guys, just for my information as i may have gotten this wrong.

If you've got 2 matches coming up say @ 1000pts.

Are you supposed to ask your up and coming oppenents what army they are bringing and then do your list?

In all my games, i have a made a list regardless of what army I'm facing.

I was under the impression that you had to make an all comers list, rather than ask your future opponents what list they are bringing.

Also, are you supposed to let your oppenent know several days before the official list submission date?

Anyway - just FYI thats what I've being doing.

  Competitive Playing 40k
Posted by: row - 03-29-2011, 11:18 AM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - Replies (41)

First off a big thank you to the LGC guys for having such a great club run by great guys that have gotten me back into 40k. Also Happy Birthday!!

Competitive Playing 40k

I know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. If you’re not sure, come over and chat to me.

I hate the term Competitive Playing. Competitive to me means that you'll do anything to win and you don't care about how you do it or who you piss off.

Competitive playing to me means that you get together and chat about games you've had or armies you would like to play against. Talking about how you would deal with certain units, getting feedback from people who have faced hard units. Talking about army lists, what works, what doesn’t work also what’s fun to play.
After games chatting to your opponent about how the game went, what he hated about your army what he found weak?

Another key aspect of "competitive" playing is the rules.

When I say rules, I’m talking not just about army rules but also 40k rules. I love discussing rules. Nobody knows all the rules off by heart. Every single game, I pick up something new or a scenario that hadn't come up before. This is great fun. You get a great sense of satisfaction knowing that you are actively trying to play the game exactly as it was supposed to be. When someone tells me something new I generally get them to point this out in the rule book. This isn’t to get them to PROVE it to me but more so I can look at it and point it out to other people if I’m queried.

I enjoy playing 40k its great craic and extraordinary things can happen in a game that make you LOL or cry.

There are a few reasons for this post;

(1) That I want to setup a group of us that chat about army lists, tactics and travel to events. I know some of us don't drive, not to worry - I have no problem giving people lifts. It works out cheaper for me too - Fuel money Smile
(2) I'm always after games, even during the week.
(3) It would be great to get the LGC name out there.
(4) This year it would be great to get more people to try out for Team NI. www.teamni.org

You maybe worried that in the tournament scene people are rude, cheat, argue rules etc. I can tell you this not the case! There have been times when both players take different opinions on an issue in a game but in some cases he was right and in other cases i've been correct. Neither person feels as if he was hard done by. Also on difficult issues the dice gods decide the outcome and everyone's happy.

After all its good craic playing at tournaments, having a few pints and rolling dice is good clean fun.

thanks for reading

  Order Vs Destruction
Posted by: - 03-28-2011, 02:29 AM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - Replies (17)

I'm not 100% sure if its the best time with the tourny going on atm but I thought I'd throw the idea out there and maybe get things started.

I was reading through the 'trusted allies, suspicious allies and fragile alliances part in the main book and realised I'd been playing one on ones a lot lately so why not get a little diversity involved !

Typically something like a 3v3 1500 each army or a 4v4 1000-1250 each army with the theme that it would be good versus evil

Any one interested in a little grudge match of light versus dark leave a post of your alligence and lets see where we can go with this ! (Hope I haven't stepped on any staffs toes here, attempting to organise and all... again just tossing out idea's !)

  thinking of a 2nd army
Posted by: wolfie - 03-21-2011, 08:03 PM - Forum: Warhammer 40k - Replies (38)

Right with my chaos force nearly fully gathered (just to be painted) i am considering what could be next for me. Obviously i hate the imperium so no good armies.

the 2 i am stuck between are Orks & Necrons. Ive collected both of these in the past and do like them. What do you guys think would be best?
